What’a happening Around Here…

Well, it’s February and I said I would be blogging more regularly.  I guess I haven’t quite lived up to that, but I really am wanting to.  It seems like life just keeps throwing stuff in our direction.  Here are some of the recent things going on around here.

The tenants in our rental house moved out.  There were quite a few repairs and little things that needed fixing up.  We have been spending our last couple of weekends over there painting.  Yuck.  I love how clean and fresh a newly painted room feels, but it’s no fun when it isn’t where you live.

I have been trying to help a totally stressed out high schooler.  He is feeling the pressure of choosing a career path, choosing colleges, taking the college entrance exams, etc.  It is a lot for a 16 year old to handle.  Getting into college is so much more competitive today than it was when Eric and I were that age.  I keep telling him to just take it one day at a time right now.  He is like me and he bears the weight of so much on his shoulders all the time.  Stuff he shouldn’t feel responsible for and stuff that he doesn’t need to worry so much about right this minute.

Kendall is back into tennis.  She is doing group sessions this time with a friend.  She was burned out on the one-on-one instruction so we are hoping that this will get her excited about the sport again.  Crossing my fingers!!!  Now if we could just get some warm days so that we can get out and play together.

Kendall in a group session. She is hitting so good too! @kendall_is_cool_23

After tennis, we headed to Starbucks with her grandparents.  She always get a nice cold caramel frappuccino.  She likes to sit in comfy seats away from us.  Pretending she is a big girl who came there all on her own.

Hanging out at Starbucks after tennis. It's freezing in here!

I love this boy and his favorite sweet treat is chocolate cheesecake. One day after school, we stopped by our local cheesecake place for him to pick up a slice. He was in HEAVEN.

I am so thankful when Eric is home to help the kids with homework. I will admit that 7th and 10th grade math problems are over my head these days!

So happy when hubby isn't traveling so he can handle homework duty. :)

I spent two days getting my phone jailbroken and reinstalling all of my favorite jailbreak apps. I feel complete again. It was killing me that there wasn’t a jailbreak out for the iPhone 5 when I bought it. I love having full control over my phone so that I can set it up exactly the way I want and have it do the things how I want.  I might have even enjoyed rubbing it into my dad since he was out of town and couldn’t jailbreak for a week until he returned home.  Love ya, Dad!  :)  I am sure you’ll be repaying me by rubbing in your new tablet this weekend!  We are such a techie geek family around here!

LOVE my iPhone! I don't know what I'd do without it!

Logan woke up on Sunday morning to find his friends had decorated his car. No, it is not even near his birthday.  LOL! This might have been retaliation for Logan doing the same thing to his friends car a few weeks ago!

Logan woke up to his car decorated by friends... :)

Eric and I took Noah and Kendall, along with two of their friends, to the skating rink one afternoon.  We had said we would get out there and skate with them, but we were both sore from painting the whole day before.

We're hanging out at the skating rink today.

Two sweet girls!! @kendall_is_cool_23

One day last week, it was over 70 degrees.  You know what that means… the Jeep tops came off!!  :)

Why yes I do have the top off the Jeep today! 74 degrees and just a perfect day! We'll not think about the severe weather that's suppose to come tonight.

I recently started back on my hormone replacement therapy.  I am not a big fan of injections but I am hoping that these are going to help, along with the oral hormones as well. Getting old can really stink!

I'm back to monthly injections. Fun, fun. :/

Whenever you are in the car with Eric you are guaranteed one thing… he will be belting out some Avenged Sevenfold at some point in your ride.

Any time you are in the car with Eric, you will hear him belting out some Avenged Sevenfold!

My mom and dad bought me a new pair of slippers that I am so in love with.  They are ultra comfortable and oh so warm!!  I wear them ALL THE TIME when I am home.  Oh, and when I am driving to and from school with the kids. I am loving these warm cozy winter nights snuggled up with my hubby by the fire. It doesn’t get much better than that. Although, I will admit that the warmer temps and time spent relaxing by the pool is sounding rather good too!

Perfect night at home. Warm fire, new slippers, and surrounded by my family. Oh, and tomorrow is Friday!!! :)

Noah and I recently had to go into the doctor for his regular 6 month checkup.  I told him not to touch anything and not to breathe while we were there.  ;-)  The flu has been going around like CRAZY here and I do not want any of us to pick it up!!!  We have had our share of colds around here (I am battling one now) but I will gladly take that over the flu!

Sitting in the doctors office holding our breath and trying not to touch anything! We are well and don't want to take home any sick germs!!

The start of any good day begins with a little of this.  Well, I actually brew that ahead of time so that I can get it nice and cold in the fridge before I am ready to drink it.  You see, I have PERFECTED the Starbucks Frappuccino.  I actually haven’t bought one from Starbucks since I started making these.  I prefer mine.  And they are less calories/weight watchers points too!  :)

The start of something great! :). Decaf Starbucks House Blend will be transformed into Frappuccinos later today. Yum!!!

This is me sitting in the carpool line recently.  The kids were dismissed early because of the big ice storm warning we were under.  It didn’t do much of anything.  :(

In the carpool line for early dismissal due to #icestorm2013

I LOVE having my nails painted. My favorite color is hot pink. One item marked off the to-do list. Nails are painted! I'm not the neatest at it, but it's ok. I LOVE pink polish!!

My family makes fun of me but you can never have too many ripe bananas. I freeze them for my favorite smoothies, breads, cookies, etc.

You can never have too many bananas! :) #smoothies #cookies #bread

Sometimes, smartphones are lifesavers. Like when you are stuck sitting in the carpool line waiting to pick up your little sister. Smart phones are lifesavers when your mom makes you go with her to sit in the carpool line to pick up your sister. ;)

My hair is getting so long now. I love it when I take the time to curl it, but don’t do it very often.  I am trying to decide if I should cut it.  It takes forever to style it every morning.  Any suggestions?? Untitled

So there you have a summary of our recent happenings.  I have several other blog posts planned so hopefully I can keep on track and post regularly.  I really miss it when I don’t.
