For vacation this year, we decided to go to Hilton Head, SC and Savannah, GA. Eric and I have been a couple times before, but we wanted to take the kids. We usually go to Destin but I thought it would be fun to do something different this year.
I wanted to drive and take the Jeep because that whole area just calls for a vehicle with the top down. Both times that Eric and I came we flew in and rented Mustang convertibles because you just need one on the coast.
The kids did a little sleeping off and on. The Jeep is pretty tight quarters with three kids, so they had to get a little creative when it came to catching some zzzz’s.
Since the Jeep isn’t the most comfortable ride for long trips, we decided to cut the drive into two days. That ended up being a great idea since the 6 hour drive to Macon, ended up being over 8 with all the construction and rain delays. We were thrilled when we started seeing the signs to Macon. We were getting close!
We finally got to the hotel and settled our stuff in.
Then we headed to Outback for dinner. Right as we were turning on the street to Outback, Kendall noticed a turtle getting ready to cross the busy intersection. As usual, she wanted to rescue it.
I didn’t take any pics because I was having major iPhone issues and was freaking out a bit that I wasn’t going to have my phone for the whole trip! I don’t know what was going on with it, but it was saying “no sim card installed” and wouldn’t let me do anything. I would have to restart multiple times to get it to work for two minutes and then it would start the error all over again. It was maddening. For some reason, after the last restart, it has been working correctly. Knock on wood. I am sooooo thankful for that.
After dinner, we headed over to Bass Pro to walk around. They had a HUGE one in Macon.
The grounds were so pretty that I had to grab a few pictures before we went in.
You see, my family has grown quite weary of having their picture made ALL THE TIME so now they tend to protest. However, they know when it’s vacation they have to suck it up and do it without complaining. That is probably one of the reasons that I love vacations so much! :)
After Bass Pro, we headed back to the hotel where we rented a movie and snacked on candy until bedtime. :)
