I picked up the camera today to take some images of a new family favorite recipe. I have already made this a few times. Check it out on the food blog here!
Is it seriously Thursday again already? I feel like I just did last week’s post yesterday! We do have a few good recipes to share with you this week. I am really enjoying this installment on the blog because it is making us try new fun recipes. We have definitely found some real keepers too! Plus, it has given me lots of new favorites to add to the food blog. That is my favorite resource when making our menu each week!
Here we go…
#1 – Cheesy Chicken Taquitos. These are seriously delicious! As a matter of fact, a sweet friend made them for her family last night and immediately texted me to tell me how delicious they were. Soooo so good! You definitely need to try them! We have made them a couple times in the last two weeks. They were so good I had to get them up on my food blog asap!
#2 – Mexican Pizza. This isn’t on the blog YET but it’s coming. It was too dark to take pictures of it last night so we will just have to make it again soon. I am using my pictures of our favorite recipes to create a printed cookbook to give each of the kids when they move out on their own. Anyway, this mexican pizza is suppose to be a copycat of the Taco Bell Mexican Pizza. I have never had that one before, but now I need to try it and see how they compare. This is super yummy!

#3 – Monkey Bread Muffins. You all know that I have to share something with cinnamon. I mean it is the start of fall and I do love me some cinnamon!! These make a great Saturday morning breakfast. I say Saturday morning because you have time to truly sit and enjoy them. They are easy enough to make any day of the week, but they are best enjoyed when you aren’t rushed! 😉 This was another new recipe that we tried and loved so much that I had to immediately add it to the food blog.
4. Chili’s Queso Dip. We eat out pretty big meals on Sunday’s after church so we aren’t overly hungry for dinner. We need something but not anything big. That is where I tend to bring in appetizers or frozen chicken tenders & fries. We all love this Queso dip and it is so easy to make!! We have made it probably 50 times since we first discovered the recipe.
Some of our other favorite meals or favorite tweaks to stuff that we made this week were:
- I made boxed brownies but added Hershey’s syrup to the mix before baking. You can buy it with it already in the box, but they had the more basic Betty Crocker brownies on sale for $1 a box. All you have to do is squirt some Hershey’s syrup in there and it tastes just like the more premium brownies. So fudgey and delicious!
- We made regular bacon slider cheeseburgers one night. Kendall wasn’t home when we had the White Castle burgers last week so she requested them this week. I made hers with the seasoning I use on the White Castle burgers but we grilled them rather than cooking in the oven. We made regular bacon cheeseburgers for the rest of us since we had already had the others recently. They were all yummy.
- We grilled pork chops one night. We LOVE them marinated all day in the Caribbean Jerk marinade from Lawry’s. Kroger has their brand of it which is just as good and saves you a few pennies too.
I think that’s it! We have some more fun stuff on the agenda for the rest of this week and next! 🙂
It’s time for another installment of my What’s For Dinner Review weekly post. I have some more yummy things for you this week! 🙂 I have been trying hard to eat at home and have at least two new to us meals every week. This week has been a little nuts since our fridge has been out of service. It has made cooking at home a little more challenging.
#1 – Grilled Monterey Chicken. I order this at restaurants all the time and this recipe is even better. My kids LOVE this marinade!! It is so easy to make too.

#2 – Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce. I really love how easy this sauce is to make. I have made this one before and really liked it. However, we have made very slight changes to it the past several times we have made it. Spaghetti is such a great easy week night meal. I love having a homemade sauce rather than a bottled one. My kids scarf this stuff down. 🙂

#3 – Copycat White Castle Cheeseburgers. I make these quite a bit because they are a hit with everyone in my family. That isn’t always easy to find!! These come together really easily and quickly.
#4 – Philly Beef Sloppy Joes. We make philly cheesesteaks a lot so I thought we would try these for a little something different. Everyone seemed to like them (minus my daughter who doesn’t like cheesesteaks of any kind). They were super easy to put together and good too!

#5 – Great Grandma’s Sloppy Joes. I make these at least once a week lately because they are my daughters favorite meal (second to Bowtie Rotel Chicken). She can’t get enough of them. This recipe has been passed down for generations in my family. Good stuff.
Apparently I was in a sandwich mood this past week. LOL We also had nacho pizza which is one of my FAVORITES! That is getting ready to hit the food blog this weekend. I will be back to link it here as well.
We made a new chocolate chip cookie recipe this past week too. It was ok. I wouldn’t call it a fail, but wasn’t what we were looking for.
What have you eaten that was new this week? Or a family favorite? I would love more suggestions on things to try! Happy Eating! 🙂
My sweet friend Jennifer started a new serious on her blog called What’s For Dinner Thursday (be sure to check it out!!!) where she shares what they had for dinner. I have done various posts like that here in the past but I haven’t been too good about sticking with them. I am really going to try hard to stick with it this time. Today I am announcing my “What’s For Dinner Review” which will be posted every Friday. I will highlight the hits and maybe a few misses from our dinners that week. I am excited to share a few of the new things that we tried this week! We had a week full of new stuff so there’s quite a few to share today. Some weeks won’t have this many. On to the food…
First up… We made this Crockpot Pesto Ravioli this week. It was a hit with everyone, even our kid who is really picky when it comes to pasta! I love how yummy and easy it was. Perfect for those days when we are super busy or when I am just too tired to put a whole lot of energy into dinner. Definitely put it into our regular rotation options.

This one we tried a couple weeks ago, but it was really good so I want to make sure I mention it before I forget. We tried these Wingers Sticky Fingers. I have never been to a Wingers restaurant before, but they sure sounded good. If you like buffalo sauce, you definitely need to give these a try!! I have one kid who didn’t care for them (he doesn’t like buffalo sauce) but the rest of thought they were great! We will definitely be making them again when the oldest isn’t home for dinner. Oh, and I made the sauce but cheated and used frozen chicken tenders. I hate making homemade breaded chicken.

Speaking of homemade breaded chicken, I did make some this week with the help of my sweet husband. We tag teamed it to make it go faster and a little easier but it was still WORK. We had soooo many of those little chicken bites with a family of five to feed. Anyway… we made this Panda Express Sweet Firecracker Chicken Copycat. Man it was really good! I am not usually a huge asian food fan, but I LOVED it. This also comes from one of my favorite food blogs. Everything I have tried from her blog turns out awesome. And her photos make my mouth water every time. Another couple favorites from her blog are these Wonton Mozzarella Sticks and the Easy Parmesan Garlic Knots.

We made this Grilled Asian Chicken. We were kind of in a rush that night so I didn’t make kabobs. We just marinated the chicken breasts all day and grilled those. I did throw some cut up vegetables on the grill with them. Anyway, it was DELICIOUS! We all definitely voted to make it again. I think next time I will make it when I have time to do the kabobs. I mean kabobs are just happy food. 😉

I made my Chinese Fried Rice (minus the chicken) to go along with the Grilled Asian Chicken. We ate it as a side rather than adding the chicken to it. It is ALWAYS a HUGE hit with my family. We can go through some serious fried rice around here. That’s good because my recipe makes a lot. My boys like there to be left overs. One of them loves it for breakfast!
And now, here is my pinterest fail of the week…
I tried these Seasoned Potato Wedges. While the taste was ok, they didn’t look anything like the picture on Pinterest. I was excited to try them because they looked just like my favorite potato wedges from KFC. Oh well. Like I said, they tasted ok but we voted not to try them again.
I had planned to get this post up first thing this morning, but it’s been one of those crazy days. The kids only had half days of school. After getting the last one dropped off, I only had an hour and a half until the first one was due back home. Crazy. I had to hurry out and grab some last minute Valentine goodies for them. Then after getting everyone picked up, we ran out to get lunch. The day continued on just as busy but I won’t bore you with the details. I am finally getting time to sit down and get this posted.
I don’t know about you, but Valentines Day is one of my VERY favorite days of the year. We actually celebrate “Love Month” all of February. I love it. We all focus on showing each other just how special we think each other is. I will share our Heart Attack door with you another day. It’s one of our favorite traditions.
I really wanted to make the kids frosted sugar cookies because they LOVE them. I found this recipe and couldn’t wait to try it. Oh my goodness… they are so good. I might have had one for breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dessert after dinner. Sad, huh? They really are so good. You can head over to my food blog to grab the recipe.
Yesterday afternoon Kendall and I worked on her class valentines. I realized that this is the last year for her to do them for school. She enters middle school next year. So hard to believe. I am not sure that I am ready for all these new chapters that are getting ready to start for the kids. Kendall going to middle school next year, Noah going to high school and Logan starting his senior year. It just can’t be. I realized this year that I really NEED to document our everyday life and happenings because those are the things I am going to miss the most one day.
Back to the school valentines…
We took a quick break to snap a picture of us together while we were working on them…
It was only fitting that she make everyone a rainbow loom bracelet for her cards. She went on Pinterest and found this free printable card to use. So perfect.
I hope everyone has had a great day shared with loved ones! 🙂
