We spent the day in the hospital getting a HIDA scan done for this girl. For months now, she has had severe abdominal pain (especially after eating, but has pain all the time), nausea, indigestion, etc. Just feeling awful. We have been to doctors and had blood work done, liver and kidney function tests, ultrasounds, etc. Finally her doctor told her that he was thinking it could possibly be the gallbladder but he wanted a pediatric gastro doctor to handle all of the testing, etc. Well… they couldn’t get us in until JULY. JULY people…. this is only May and my daughter is in pain. Anyway… I swear that God handled this situation for us. I just happened to see a post on Instagram from one of my friends taken at the hospital after her gallbladder removal surgery. I sent her a private message and just asked a few questions about symptoms, etc. Her symptoms were IDENTICAL to Kendall’s. I told her how my gut kept telling me that it was her gallbladder even though all the doctors said it was rare at her age. My friend, Audra, told me that I should really make the drive to the clinic where she was seen because he ordered the HIDA scan immediately which confirms or rules out gallbladder issues. I called and got Kendall an appointment for the next day (Friday). We saw him… LOVED HIM!!!… and he ordered the HIDA scan for Kendall on Monday. This was a LONG tiring day but we are so glad that everything worked out. For the HIDA scan, she had to lay here for two hours. After one hour, she got to drink a butter pecan Ensure (which she said was nasty). Then she had to lay there for another hour to see how her gallbladder handled food and the rate at which it worked, etc. Well, we got the call yesterday that the scan shows that her gallbladder is barely functioning at all which explains everything. Sooo… we meet with the surgeon on Friday at Le Bonheur to do her pre-op stuff and get the surgery scheduled. She is beyond ready to feel better and put this behind her. Thank you to all of our friends and family who have called, texted, emailed, prayed, etc. Your continued prayers would be much appreciated! A BIG THANK YOU to Audra for posting that picture and giving me the info I needed to get my girl seen and taken care of so quickly!
